So, this weekend was busy, busy, busy! Saturday, I had to wake up at 6:15 am to take my car to the dealership for a 60k service appointment at 7:00 am. My husband was sweet enough to picked me up since the service was going to take half of the day. Once we got back home, we watched the movie Reno 911 on television. Finally, around 9:00 am I decided that it was time to start preparing the food before my family arrived at 12:00 pm. I started by boiling the beans for my refried beans which took a little over an hour to cook. Then I decided to get in the shower so I could at least be ready before they all arrived. Around 11:15 I began to prepared my refried beans by using my food processor blender which I love because it never gets stuck like other blenders I had on the past. Once I did that, I used my frying pan and heated some olive oil. Then I added the beans to the pan and let it cook for about 10 more minutes.
By 12:30 pm, no one had showed up and I started wondering if they had gotten lost. I immediately texted my cousins and they were on their way. I guess I had forgotten that my Latin side of my family tends to be a little fashionably late, lol (only one cousin came in early, Carlos). Keep in mind that most of my cousins are girls ; ). Since I was busy preparing the refried beans and making some guacamole, my wonderful husband helped me grilled the carne asada which by the way he cooked to perfection. Thank God I asked everyone to bring something because I would have been really freaking out if I had to prepare the entire main course. Around 1:30 pm, everyone started arriving. My cousin Esperanza brought rice, my cousin Elva brought macaroni salad, my auntie Violeta brought a salad and some coffee bread, my cousin Carlos brought a bag of chocolate chip cookies, and my cousin Carolina brought cheesecake (she really got some brown points with that one with Stephen). So, we proceeded with the tour of the house since most of them had not been here yet before then we ate. It is very cool to hang out with my mother's side of the family since I don't get to do that so much. Throughout the day we just talked and had fun. Some of course had more fun than others! My mom, for example, had a blast drinking margaritas and tequila shots with her sister while dancing. The only time I had to leave the gathering was when I picked up my car with Stephen, and all the little kids decided to come with us. On our way back, we passed by Save mart to rent a few movies from a red box machine. Funny that they all wanted to rent movies but once there no one wanted to get down with me. Finally, my second cousin Briana decided to get down with me. She ended up choosing two movies. One was "Paranormal Activity" and the other was "Angus, Thongs and Perfect snooging". Let me tell you, "Paranormal Activity" sucked!!! Don't recommend it to anyone because it was not worth it. The story line was boring, the actors were not really good, the special effects are so fake and it was not scary at all. Surprisingly, I did liked the second movie "Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snooging" because it was cute since it had to do with how teenagers view their lives and problems at that age.
On Sunday, I decided to wake up really late. By 1:00 pm, I was ready to go to Costco with my mother for groceries. After Costco, we went to Safeway and went home. Luckily our grocery list was very short so our shopping went very smooth and quickly. I love Costco because they always have cool things to try but I really hate going there on weekend because people get a little crazy; however, we have to go on weekends since my mother pays for the food and she can't go during the week. Stephen did not go with us this time because he spent all day at the baseball field at West High School where he coaches baseball. He did not end up getting home till 7:00 pm. Right after dinner, I went to bed because I was tired from cleaning up our house and the gathering from the day before.
Today, I went to the gym and did my little routine with no problem. I'm also excited because I passed one of two exams I took about one month ago. Unfortunately, I will have to retake the one that I did not passed. I did not passed the exam by 6 points : ( and wondering why. Hopefully I will receive the detailed scoring soon. Oh well, I will just have to register again to retake that one and other two exams I need to take. All I need now, is to receive my pass/fail score from the CBEST. I also need to follow up on my TB test which I failed so they had to take some X-rays. Other than that, I will just continue staining my armoire and hang out at home. Stephen got the day off from work but decided to go work on his baseball field.
