Lately, I've been having a really hard time sleeping. Not sure why but I will try to go to sleep as early as I can so I can get a decent sleep. Today, I woke up until 7:00 am, ate a banana and left to go to the gym. I did not have lots of energy so I used the elliptical instead of the treadmill to get some cardio into my workout. Again, I had a variation of push-ups which I did not want to do but did anyways. After, 20 push-ups I was ready to go home but I push it through to all the other exercises and got them done! During my exercise, one of the trainers at the gym even told me she could see the changes in my body which made me feel even more motivated to continue through the workout. I mean you can feel the changes but you don't realize this until someone complements on how you look. That made the workout even more worth it!
Once home, I prepared my breakfast and took a shower. By noon, I was out the door to go to the San Lorenzo district office to fill in some paper work for the volunteering work I will be doing at Stephen's school. Thank God the principal approved for me to volunteer as a tutor for Spanish speaking children that need the extra help in certain classrooms. I'm really looking forward to this since not only will I gain experience but I'm sure I will enjoy doing this job since I can relate to their needs. I still need to turn in a TB clearance to the school and have my fingerprints done. I wish the secretary I spoke to at the school previously would have told me this so I would have gotten them before I went to fill out the application (oh, well, I guess I just have to deal with it!). I still need to wait for the district office to make the appointment for me to get the fingerprinting done but on a positive note I'm glad I will be busy soon.
Right after I finished filling out the forms, I headed over Stephen's school to pick him up. I had to wait for 20 minutes but I manage to get more information regarding teacher substitution positions and what it requires. I had an idea already but it helps to ask the people that know more. So, all I need to do is to go back to the district office and let them know I'm interested in substituting; however, I need to get my scores for the writing exam first and my bachelor degree. This time I know I passed it but I need the paper to show that so I can get the approval. I guess things are looking up for me : ).
Stephen is so excited to start his baseball coaching at West high school in Tracy. In addition, he also feel fortunate to have the last period open to have enough time to commute back to Tracy to be able to coach. He already started writing a booklet that includes instructions of certain baseball skills he plans to teach the players. He takes such pride in his work that it makes me admire him even more. Even though practice has not started yet he has met with the future players for weight training twice a week for four weeks. This week was his busiest since he had to meet with the athletic director of the school, coaches, and parents. Overall, he is enjoying it and he is hopeful that next year he will be able to apply to a PE position in Tracy, CA. For now, this is not one hundred percent for sure that there will be a position available but coaching at West high school may make it possible as he will make himself known by his work ethics and ability to communicate with anyone he meets. I'm so proud of him!
